Pet Pony Program
Would you like an old trusty pony for your child to ride? We have several 'old girls' that are no longer being used at the farm. They are too old to take part comfortably in the riding or driving lessons given at the farm. Most will not carry a foal anymore. All of the grandchildren here have their own ponies (fancier and more exciting ones, they think). That leaves these old ponies with nothing to do. As with people, regular exercise and attention is important for older equines.
The Pet Pony program was devised to give these 'old girls' something usefull to do. We don't want to sell them. They have all been raised here at the farm and are considered members of the family. They are offered on leases to approved homes with references. They are not to be used as 'companion' ponies for other horses. Their purpose is to allow young riders the oppurtunity to experience pony ownership with an ultra-safe mount. Lease prices are very reasonable. Excellent homes are the priority.

 | Northern My Delight, known as 'Dede'. She is bay, 12 hands and will be 25 years old 2009. 'Dede' has foundered in the past. She is sound but will require shoes for riding on hard surfaces. Drives and rides (doesn't neck rein). 'Dede' is ring sour and doesn't approve of going around and around, but she is excellent for trail rides and has been 'ponied' many miles with a young rider. Suitable for trail rides, lead line, and loving. DeeDee is looking for a new family to spoil her in 2009. |
 | Northern Peache Brandi kown as Brandi. She is bay and stands a little under 12 hands (48 inches). She will be 29 in 2009. Brandi is in excellent health, sound as 2 year old and just as full of energy. Brandi has been a career broodmare although she was trained for harness as a youngster. She is not really suitable for a riding pony other than lead line and would be fine for brushing, leading and petting. Brandi has no special needs. |
