Do you have horse crazy kids?
Northern Twilight Farm offers full and half day camps throughout the year and weekly after school riding lessons for children aged 5-16.
We also offer special private leadline lessons for the youngest riders, aged 3 and 4 years at $15 for a half hour lesson.
Homeschoolers, day cares and school groups are also welcome to contact Holly to book lessons during regular school hours.
Do you have FARM crazy kids?
Are your kids begging for a pet rabbit? Another kitten? A pony? Let your kids learn about animal ownership and what kind of real responsibliites are involved with caring for animals. Farm camps cover a wide variety of activities depending on the season. From helping care for baby chicks to throwing hay bales, kids are immersed in the daily operation of a mixed farm with lots of learning opportunities and always time for a trail ride on their favorite pony and a picnic lunch.

Kids aren't the only ones that can learn new skills at Northern Twilight Farm. We have weekly lesson programs designed especially for adults wanting to experience the companionship of horses and challenge themselves to achieve personal goals.

Kids Lesson Programs
Kids learn all aspects of horse and pony care as well as saddling and bridling their own pony for lessons and trail rides.
Holly presents lessons in a safe environment and with her positive attitude with young riders makes sure that everyone has a
rewarding experience with horses. Safety is stressed and helmets are mandatory. It is recommended that children wear a ASTM approved riding helmet and riding boots. They will have an opportunity to ride western and english and to try driving a pony in a cart. They will learn about feeding and caring for the horses and ponies that live at Northern Twilight Farm.
Groups are limited to 6 kids so that everyone gets individual attention and instruction. Lessons programs follow CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) standards and kids have the opportunity to ride a test to check their skills and earn CHA rewards.
CHA certified instructor, Holly Pottinger has over 25 years of experience teaching beginner riders. Her teaching program is based on learning through having fun with a emphasis on safety. Please call Holly at 250-846-5633 or email riverbank@bulkley.net for more information and to book a spot.

2010 Half Day Camps
Half Day camps are for kids aged 5-7 and 8-12 years.
Kids have a riding lesson (or hands-on animal care at a Farm themed camp) each day, a theory lesson and homework. Kids need a snack, and clothing for all weather conditions. Long pants must be worn and sturdy shoes. Helmets are mandatory. We have some riding helmets available to borrow for the day if someone forgets their helmet at home.
Full Day camps will also be offered for kids aged 8-14 years during July and August.
If a camp you are interested in is full please call to have your child's name put on a waiting list for that camp.

Adult Evening lesson schedule
If you already have some riding experience and would like to increase your knowledge and riding skills, you can book a private or semi private evening lesson with Holly. You can bring your own horse or ride one of the farm's well schooled lesson horses. Holly is also available to teach private and semi-private lessons at the Smithers Fall Fair grounds. You must sign up for a minimum of 4 lessons. Pre-payment required.
